CBBC
- Market Research
- Developing Market Plans
- Developing Business Plans (for start-up businesses)
The intention of the CBBC is to instill in students the spirit of entrepreneurship while providing businesses with access to research, strategies and ideas that they would not otherwise have time, staff, or perhaps the necessary experience to achieve. Students benefit from applying their education to real-world problems while giving back to the community. They also can meet and network with business people and build their resumes. Students are selected through a rigorous selection process and are paired with projects that match their experience and interest. Students spend on average three hours a week on their projects. The CBBC is a community volunteer board consisting of students from St. Olaf and Carleton College. The Student Board is sponsored by First National Bank, Community Resource Bank and Wells Fargo Bank and administered by the NEC. The program was developed because the three banks determined there was a need for some of their clients to have access to good business information. The CBBC is a way for the banks to better serve their community and is a win-win for all constituents involved. Senior executives from the NEC and the banks work with local businesses and non-profits to develop the research opportunities and college professors serve as advisors to the students. Representatives from the Northfield Chamber of Commerce and the Northfield Downtown Development Corporation, St. Olaf College and Carleton College also serve on the advisory board. If you have a project that you would like a CBBC student to work on please contact us.
